The Poole Poetry Group brings together like minded people who have a wish or desire to write poetry; whether it is for fun, therapy or to be published. The group is of a self help nature with an opportunity to learn various writing skills, build confidence in the poet / poetess and reach out to a wider audience. Promoting itself and its poets by gathering with other organizations, schools, clubs, libraries and church groups to encourage others to join us and flourish with this written art.

Many individuals, who would never normally dream of writing poetry, may find themselves doing so either in the wake of a personal loss - the death of a loved one in particular, or the collapse of a relationship, or because of a major traumatic event in which they or someone close to them has been involved. Writing poetry can help to express those feelings, that they may not be able to release through verbal channels.

The Music of Poetry.
Rhythm is found everywhere about us in nature and life:
the beat of the pulsing heart, the tick of the mantel clock, the rain pattering on a rough tile roof,
the marching pace of parading soldiers, the one-two or one-two-three of music and dancing,
the ta-rum, ta-rum, ta-rum-tum-tum of the drum, the tolling of a chapel bell,
the clang of a fire bell, the moaning of the wind in the trees,
the alternation of the seasons and of day and night, the rise and fall of a wave,
the ebb and flow of the tide.
Rhythm in speech and writing is a pleasing or tuneful arrangement of the accented and unaccented syllables. Rhyme is a similarity of sound, usually at the ends of lines.
Rhythm and Rhyme pours from within our souls and allows our quills to create a written art.
